Teofil Gherca is, from October 2022, the URBACT Programme Director.

With an educational background in political science and in public administration, Teofil has a long professional experience in the field of spatial planning, territorial and urban policies and territorial cooperation.

He worked during 11 years for the Romanian Government in the Ministry of Transports and Infrastructures and Ministry of Regional Development and Public Administration. Before joining URBACT, he worked for 6 years as Head of Unit for Administration and Management at ESPON EGTC – the single beneficiary of the ESPON programme.
