Carolina Perpiñá Castillo works as a territorial and geospatial analyst at the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (Italy) since 2012. She is particularly focused on the development of the Land Use modelling platform (LUISA) under EU alternative scenarios, especially for territorial impact assessment and policy analysis. Currently, she is involved in the implementation of the EU Rural Observatory and the development of rural-related indicators in demography, renewable energies, digitalisation, urban-rural interactions, etc. giving scientific and policy support to different DGs. She holds a PhD in Cartography and Geodesy engineering from the Universitat Politecnica de Valencia (Spain) and she is currently finishing a Master on Big Data and Analytics.
